Real-world project example
How many fence posts for a 100 ft fence?
For a straight 100 ft fence with a maximum 8 ft interval, divide 100 by 8 to get 12.5 spans, then round up to 13 spans. That means 14 posts if the fence is one continuous straight run with a post at each end. Corners, gates and layout breaks can change the post count.
