Privacy Policy
Effective September 29, 2026. DIYSum is designed to collect as little personal information as practical.
Calculator inputs
Your project dimensions, prices and calculator selections are processed in your browser. The current version of DIYSum does not send calculator inputs to a DIYSum server or store them after you leave the page.
Google Analytics and your choices
With your permission, DIYSum uses Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google, to understand website traffic and improve its calculators. Google Analytics can process page visits, referral information, approximate location, browser and device information, cookie identifiers and interactions with the site.
Our custom events record successful calculator submissions, shopping-list download requests, print/save PDF requests and contact email clicks, together with the page and calculator name where applicable. They do not include entered dimensions, prices, project names, calculation results, shopping-list contents or email message contents. A print or email click does not tell us whether you completed printing, saved a PDF or sent an email.
Analytics cookies and preferences
Google Analytics is loaded only after you choose “Allow analytics.” If you decline or have not chosen, we do not load Google Analytics or send analytics events to Google. You can change your choice using “Analytics preferences” in the footer on any page. Declining after previously allowing removes accessible Google Analytics cookies and reloads the page to stop the tag. Withdrawing permission does not delete data already received by Google.
We store your choice in your browser’s local storage for up to 180 days. If browser storage is unavailable, the choice applies to the current page only. When permitted, Google Analytics uses first-party cookies such as _ga and _ga_TXHDG7QM8S, configured here to expire after 180 days without renewal. Clearing browser storage or using a different browser may cause the choice to appear again. The calculators remain available whether you allow or decline analytics.
Google Signals and advertising personalization are disabled by this site’s tag. Read Google’s Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Google also offers an Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Analytics data is processed by Google and may be processed outside your country.
Advertising
DIYSum does not currently load advertising scripts. Reserved spaces for possible future ads are inactive and do not contact an ad service. This policy and applicable choices will be updated when new services are enabled.
Files you download
Shopping lists are generated on your device. Downloading one saves a file in the download location controlled by your browser or device.
Website hosting
Your browser requests the site’s files from its hosting provider. The hosting provider may process ordinary technical request information such as IP address, browser details, timestamps and requested pages in service and security logs.
If you contact DIYSum by email, the information in your message and ordinary email metadata will be processed by the email services used to send and receive the message. Do not send sensitive personal, financial or payment information.
Third-party links
DIYSum may link to third-party websites. Their privacy practices are controlled by those third parties, not DIYSum.
Children
DIYSum is a general-audience project-planning website and is not designed to collect personal information from children.
