How the sand calculation works
Area × depth = cubic feet
Cubic feet ÷ 27 = cubic yards
Adjusted volume = volume × (1 + extra allowance)
Cubic feet ÷ 27 = cubic yards
Adjusted volume = volume × (1 + extra allowance)
For ton purchases, enter the supplier's tons-per-cubic-yard conversion because sand density varies with material and moisture.

Use the depth that fits your project and product instructions. Bag volume, bulk increments and density should come from the material or supplier whenever possible.
